Dupont Building Innovations along with the Power Matters Alliance teamed up to develop a kitchen counter surface that will recharge cell phones wirelessly.

Technology is enabling incredible innovation in every aspect of our society.

Two companies, Dupont Building Innovations and the Power Matters Alliance have developed a kitchen counter surface that will recharge cell phones wirelessly.

The DuPont Corian solid surface is a synthetic alternative to typical home furnishings and surfaces. It is a material similar in appearance and feel to granite. Commonly used for kitchen counters, lamps and even structure exteriors, it is used in both commercial and residential buildings.

However, they wanted to make the material capable of multitasking. That’s where the partnership comes in.

The minds behind the idea are planning to integrate PMA wireless charging technology into the corian surface, which will allow customers to charge smartphones by simply laying them down on the table or countertop.

The global marketing director of DuPont Building Innovations notes “we aim to bring this level of performance to new heights, while meeting the emerging needs of industries and consumers to remain powered up throughout the day.”
